Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) &
Event Data Recorder (EDR) Tool Training Courses
|
In 2021 Kent E. Boots & Associates became a Bosch listed CDR Tool training organization.

Select the appropriate class below for location details, registration, and payment information. All of these classes are pre-approved for 16 ACTAR CEUs.
|
In addition to training we provide, Rich Consulting (Ohio) is licensed to instruct the Bosch CDR Tool course using our curriculum. Please visit their web site for further information regarding the training courses they provide.
|
These courses are best suited for law enforcement crash investigators, field investigators, insurance investigators and adjusters, or those involved in vehicle documentation and examinations.
All Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) tool and Event Data Recorder (EDR) tool courses include lecture and hands-on activities by experienced instructors.
Attendees are not required to own the factory specific tools (Bosch CDR tool, Hyundai-Kia EDR tool, Tesla EDR Tool) in order to attend these courses, although it is strongly encouraged.

Kent E. Boots is a trained Bosch CDR Technician and Analyst. He is a certified instructor and has been training other individuals as CDR tool Operators/Technicians for over 15 years.
Mr. Boots has also attended additional specialized training to trouble-shoot communication problems and obtain data in situations where other technicians might not be able to. He co-instructed the CDR Technician: Train the Trainer Certification Course from 2012-2020 instructing qualified and experienced CDR Data Analysts to train others to the CDR Operator/Technician Level.

Bosch Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) Operator-Technician (2-day course)
This course will provide an understanding of the components of the Bosch CDR Tool exposing the user to the basic functions of the hardware and software. The goal is for the user to confidently collect and preserve data from supported vehicles using the standard OBD II (DLC) port, or in some cases directly from the airbag control module (ACM).
This course is pre-approved for 16 ACTAR CEUs.
This class is a prerequisite for Bosch CDR report data analysis courses.

| Advanced Troubleshooting & Vehicle Systems for the CDR/EDR Operator-Technician (5-day course)
This course is pre-approved for 40 ACTAR CEUs.
Click here to see what our former students had to say about this course.
This course provides the CDR/EDR Tool user with an advanced skillset to conduct DLC imaging in more difficult situations where other users might not be able to. Attendees will learn to troubleshoot vehicle electrical systems as well as “connecting” to the vehicle when the DLC is damaged or not accessible. The experienced CDR Tool user will gain a better understanding of the various vehicle system components that “provide” information to the ACM, their locations, as well as how to “test” them.
Most, if not all, of the skills taught in this class will apply to other EDR tools such as Hyundai/Kia.

Hyundai-Kia EDR Tool Operator-Technician Course
This course will provide an understanding of the components of the Hyundai-Kia EDR tools exposing the user to the basic functions of the hardware and software. The concepts are the same as for the Bosch CDR Tool for data collection so this course will be specific to the hardware/software and not necessarily the process.
It is anticipated this course would be approved for 2-4 ACTAR CEUs.
|
Tesla EDR Tool Operator-Technician Course
This course will provide an understanding of the components of the Tesla EDR tool exposing the user to the basic functions of the hardware and software. The concepts are the same as for the Bosch CDR Tool for data collection so this course will be specific to the hardware/software and not necessarily the process.
It is anticipated this course would be approved for 2-4 ACTAR CEUs.
